Arrival and Welcome
Arrive in Santa Barbara. Check into your first hotel, then spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the location. Set amid lush hills overlooking the Pacific, this five-star property is lauded as the region’s most iconic boutique resort. In the afternoon you will meet our representative for a detailed walk-through and handover of your chosen vehicle, ready to begin your Californian self-drive adventure.
First Drive Day
The first day of your luxurious self-guided driving tour of California will take you from Santa Barbara to Paso Robles via the twists and turns of the Los Padres National Forest. Discover the diverse landscapes of the region from lush coastlines to semi-desert ecosystems further inland, before arriving into a boutique Tuscan-inspired retreat for the evening.
Second Drive Day
Day two will see you follow the Paso Robles wine trail before enjoying the sparsely trafficked backroads that traverse the rolling hills of central California. Take advantage of your proximity to Carmel Valley by exploring the exceptional local wine boutiques. In the early afternoon you will arrive at a luxurious resort and spa in the heart of Californian Wine Country.
Third Drive Day
For your third day, we recommend a relaxed start, and perhaps even a lie-in to recharge before a long and rewarding final day. Today, however, is a shorter day that will take you around the Carmel Valley coastline through Monterey and Pebble Beach via the unmistakable 17 Mile Drive. That afternoon you will stop close to Big Sur at an exclusive and ultra-luxe resort.
Fourth Drive Day
Your final day of driving is a big one! Prepare to discover the iconic Highway 1 all the way from Big Sur back to Los Angeles. Take time to appreciate the spectacular sweeping ocean views along your way. Once you have arrived in Santa Monica, a member of our team will meet you to arrange your vehicle’s return and the conclusion of your journey before onward travel.
